EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES: VILLA COLLEGE LEGAL AID CAMP AT THE EDUCATION FAIR

The Faculty of Shariah & Law at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, in collaboration with the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Law Society, hosted a highly impactful legal aid camp during the Education Fair organized by the Ministry of Education at Central Park, Hulhumalé. The camp provided crucial support to a wide range of individuals, particularly migrants, domestic violence survivors, and young people entering the workforce.

The camp offered free attestation services, assisting five individuals in authenticating important documents for various legal and administrative purposes. Migrants received guidance on a range of issues, including passport matters, salary-related disputes, and who to contact for assistance, with contact information for trusted legal resources provided to participants. For those facing domestic violence, the camp ensured they understood who to reach out to for immediate help and reassured them that legal aid is available on call.

Additionally, the camp provided valuable court form filling assistance, helping individuals navigate legal procedures with accuracy and ease. Agreement consultations were also offered, allowing participants to understand their rights and obligations in various legal agreements. Young people entering their first employment were informed about their legal rights in the workplace, empowering them to make informed decisions.

The camp was incredibly impactful, with 25 migrant consultations, one domestic violence case addressed, and several other individuals benefiting from the various services provided. The initiative not only empowered participants with vital knowledge but also reinforced Â鶹ÊÓƵ's commitment to promoting legal awareness and accessibility in the community.
