On June 27, 2024, Â鶹ÊÓƵ and Navesta Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Sri Lanka, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enrich the educational experience of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm) students. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ team included Vice Rector Dr. Ali Najeeb, Deputy Vice Rector Mr. Abdul Munnim Mohamed Manik, and the Dean and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Ms. Aishath Mala and Ms. Mano Priya Vijayan. Representing Navesta Pharmaceuticals Ltd were COO/Director Dr. Janaka Wickramasinghe, Head of Plant Mr. Amitkumar Prajapati, Manager HR Ms. Navoda Tharangani Yapa, and Senior Production Manager Ms. Padmika Seneviratne.
This partnership aims to enhance the educational experience by providing B Pharm students with valuable industrial exposure. Through this collaboration, students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in areas such as contract manufacturing pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical manufacturing with contamination control and quality assurance procedures.
They will also learn about marketing and distribution, joint ventures, and the importance of good manufacturing practices (GMP). This exposure will help students understand real-world pharmaceutical processes, develop essential skills, and prepare them for their future careers in the medicine and healthcare industries.
