Programme Details

Introduction

The programme aims to enable internationally qualified nurses to become critical practitioners committed to lifelong learning in their respective areas of practice, situated within their own health and social care context, through this international qualification.

The learner will be encouraged to focus on enhancing their knowledge and understanding of current issues related to their own field of practice, and that of the wider context of health and social care. The main educational aim of the BSc (Hons) Nursing (International) programme is to provide qualified nurses (students) the opportunity to:

  • Enhance the development of academic and professional knowledge and skills in developing mastery in their respective areas of practice and promote the ethos of continuing independent learning.

  • Enhance the role of the qualified nurse, with the opportunity to develop comprehensive, evidence-based knowledge; and to apply critical thinking and innovative approaches to service delivery that will contribute directly to the enhancement of the quality of healthcare service provision.

General Entry Criteria

  • Completion of MNQF level 5 Diploma in Nursing AND

  • Must be registered and licenced by the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council AND

  • Certified competency in English

The main educational aim of the BSc (Hons) Nursing (International)Ìýprogramme is to provide qualified nurses (students) the opportunity to:

  • Enhance the development of academic and professional knowledge and skills in developing mastery in in their respective areas of practice and promote the ethos of continuing independent learning.Ìý

  • Enhance the role of the qualified nurse with the opportunity to develop comprehensive, evidence-based knowledge; apply critical thinking and innovative approaches to service delivery that will contribute directly to the enhancement of the quality of healthcare service provision.Ìý

  • Provide a stimulating, supportive and sensitive learning environment that will enable learners to maximise their learning and facilitate their development as self-directed and reflective learners

  • Produce graduates who demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of complex and specialist areas of knowledge and skills necessary to practice competently in their specific field of practiceÌý

  • Enable learners to demonstrate an understanding and evaluation of current issues within health and social care in their own country, using new knowledge in innovative ways and sharing this with a wider audience

  • Support learners to evaluate current research and scholarship in order to effectively, efficiently and flexibly lead, manage, plan and evaluate care delivery in a variety of complex and unpredictable contexts

  • Support learners to work in partnership with service users, carers and their families to develop personal and family-centred holistic careÌý

  • Enable learners to become independent and reflective practitioners, who have the ability to question and challenge practice and evidence, with confidence and courage

  • Appraise and synthesise relevant research, evaluations and audits, applying them to one’s own area of practice, ensuring measurable quality improvements
